This is a fine art print of the original watercolour & ink painting of the 2017 Hasler race in 2017.

The Hasler Series is the national club championship in the sport of marathon canoe racing. The race takes place over distances of 4, 8 or 12 miles, depending on the paddlers' ability. The series is named after Major Herbert Hasler, a  Royal Marines officer in World War II who famously paddled 85 miles upstream, at night, into occupied France in a successful attempt to blow up enemy shipping and survived to tell the tale. The Richmond Canoe Club hosts the Richmond Hasler every year in July/August and can be seen as they race from Ham to Richmond Centre and back.
